Spain's U-19 team comprehensively beat their Italian counterparts today, setting up a semi-final clash with either England or the Netherlands. First half goals from Ruben Rochina and Dani Pacheco put La Rojita in the driver's seat, and a cheeky second half penalty from substitute Ezequeil Calvente sealed the victory.

Within a of an quarter hour, Liverpool's Pacheco struck the post after making a clever turn. Three minutes later, Rochina took advantage of a poor clearance, won the ball, and finished past Italian goalkeeper Simone Colombi to put the Spanish ahead. Shortly thereafter, Pacheco pounced on another Italian defensive error, beat two defenders, and finished with an exceptionally well-placed shot.

The Azzurrini had a chance to pull a goal back early in the second half, but Mattia Destro was twice denied from close range. Moments later, Calvente drew a penalty, and converted the resulting spot kick. The shot, which was lined up as right-footed but taken with his left, put the result completely out of question. The final half hour or so was played much like an exhibition, with Italy pressing for a compensation goal, but ultimately failing to convert.

Their victory today means that La Rojita avoid the red-hot French in the semis, setting up a potential clash of the U-19 titans in the final.
